Welcome to Detroit and welcome to Cobo Joe’s Smokehouse Barbeque and Sports Bar. This legendary downtown bar and restaurant has been in the same location for thirty plus years.

Originally a speakeasy in the roaring twenties and thirties, legend has it that gangsters were gunned down in the back of the building where the kitchen now stands. Later it became an ice cream parlor, hence the floor which is partially tiled in white and black.

Because of Cobo Joe’s location, directly across the street from the Cobo Convention Center and Joe Louis Arena, we have served our fine food, spirits and friendship to folks from all over the world. Therefore, we can honestly say that our reputation is known worldwide.

While you are visiting the downtown Detroit area please stop in to meet owner Richard and Manager Linda Bellamy and wrap your hands around some of our famous Barbeque. Our menu is extensive and our pizza has been voted #1 time and time again.

If hockey is your passion, Cobo Joe’s is “Downtown’s #1 Hockey Hangout. If you want to come in when the Red Wings are in town, better come early as Cobo Joe’s fills with hockey fans of all ages.

So if you’re tired after a long day at the convention or you just want to get in your lean and rest position and have a cold adult beverage, consider Cobo Joe’s your destination of choice.

We look forward to meeting you. Cobo Joe’s is

where good friends meet.

This Detroit landmark is a stone’s throw away from Joe Louis Arena. The atmosphere screams of fun. A little bar with nothing fancy but a lot of attitude makes Cobo Joe’s a great place. The food is off the hook, best BBQ in downtown. Extreme Detroit Magazine

The most fun I have ever had, you folks are the best. Thanks for making my visit to Detroit a memorable one and a special thanks to Richard for the lift to the airport! Niko Hesso

Wow, the best BBQ I have ever had. I ordered the ribs and they were fantastic and my wife had the Chicken dinner (and she talked about it all the way home) a special thanks to Linda for the grand tour of the kitchen, she made for a very friendly and at home atmosphere. Can’t wait to get back downtown! Harry Campbell

My friend and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat and wound up hanging around for a couple of hours. The wait staff was awesome. Our waitress explained the new BBQ items on the menu so we decided to stay for a while. Our dinner was incredible, no doubt the best BBQ I have ever tasted. The service was fantastic and the girls were a lot of fun. It’s worth the drive from the “burbs” trust me. Looking forward to our next visit to Cobo Joe’s. Thanks! Bob Murray

Your kindness and very warm welcome was very refreshing and very appreciated, especially the offer to find us some tickets to the Red Wings home game later that evening. Ron Arble
