Traffic Plan for the Garth Brooks Concerts at Joe Louis Arena

Traffic Plan:

Street Closure Locations
For the safety of guests entering and exiting the venue, Atwater Street will be closed to non-emergency vehicles from 4:00 p.m. to approximately 4:00 a.m. If the Joe Louis Arena Parking garage and North Lot are full, guests will be provided with a parking map with directions to other parking options, including the Foxtown lots. On Saturday, February 28, 2015, Garth Brooks’ tour trucks will stage on Atwater from 12:00 p.m. to the end of the show, load-out will begin 20 minutes following the final show.

Street Closures at Joe Louis Arena
Yzerman Drive/Jefferson – Soft Closure (Type A Barricade) staffed by OEI Crowd Manager (4:00 pm – 4:00 am), access for Emergency Vehicles Only.
Atwater/Civic Center Drive – Soft Closure (Type A Barricade) staffed by OEI Crowd Manager (12:00 pm – 4:00 am), access for Emergency Vehicles Only.

Drop Off and Pick Up Locations
Shuttle Buses from local Restaurants, Hotels and Bars, as well as Limo’s, Taxis and other vehicles will be allowed to drop off and pick up at designated locations near Joe Louis Arena.
Area #1 – Cobo Center Main Entrance on Washington Blvd
Guest will be directed through Cobo Center to the service level where they can walk to the Joe Louis Arena East Entrance. For those coming early for the second shows on Saturday, Cobo Center’s Michigan Hall and Atrium will be used as a waiting area, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Area #2 – South Jefferson near Sixth Street
Guests will be directed to the Joe Louis Arena West Porch, the line for the second show will run from the West Porch down the people mover ramp to the ground level on Yzerman Drive. Once on Yzerman Drive the line will continue to Atwater, along the Riverside of the street. For those coming early for the second shows on Saturday, Cobo Center’s Michigan Hall and Atrium will be used as a waiting area, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Detroit People Mover
The Detroit People Mover will be operational during the Garth Brooks events; however, two of the stations are being renovated and may not be open during the Garth Brooks event February 20, 2105 through February 28, 2015. The two stations that are being renovated are the Times Square station and the Grand Circus station; we will monitor the progress of the renovations and advise as updates become available.

Saturday, February 21, 2015: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Sunday, February 22, 2015: 12:00 p.m. to Midnight

Friday, February 27, 2015: 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Saturday, February 28, 2015: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Sunday, March 1, 2015: 12:00 p.m. to Midnight
